Somni Solutions specialises in the design and manufacturing of innovative high performance fiber optic sensors. These sensors use fiber optic technology to measure various parameters such as temperature, pressure, acceleration or displacement.


The sensors are fully optical and do not require electricity. Applications range from medical monitoring to industrial automation and environmental control.


Somni Solutions is focused on providing reliable and accurate sensor solutions that meet the needs of its customers in various industries.

Our products

Our sensors are all Fibre Bragg Grating (FBG) based fiber optic sensors. They are robust and have an exceptionally long lifetime. This long life, together with resistance to high temperatures and immunity to electromagnetic interference, makes these sensors widely used in high technology applications.


It has always been the goal of Somni's founders to produce the best quality sensors for these applications at the best price. As a result, Somni can now offer a large number of these high quality sensors as standard sensors (see "Products").


However, we are also constantly developing new sensors to complement our portfolio. This portfolio of standard sensors continues to grow. In addition to standard sensors, Somni also develops and produces sensors for specific applications and industries (such as nuclear fusion and medical applications).

Fiber optic sensors are used in many different applications and markets, from aerospace to energy, but also in civil applications such as structural health monitoring of vital infrastructure and defence applications to protect vital underwater assets.

Somni would like to play a role in all these application areas with its in-depth knowledge of fiber optic sensors. Of course with the aim of helping the customer to solve his problem.


Somni therefore works together with the customer, who has a deeper knowledge of the application than Somni. In many cases it has been proven that the impossible can be achieved by developing in a completely open relationship.


Although Somni's focus is on the development of the sensor, Somni can very well support and give direction to the development of the sensor system. In many cases Somni has taken full responsibility for this.

Testing and demonstrate

In order to be able to work in so many areas with so many different types of sensors, Somni has a lot of equipment with which to carry out tests. 

It is also possible for Somni's customers to carry out tests with the interrogators available at Somni. By appointment, a demonstration can be carried out with one of the interrogators to test the suitability of the interrogator for the specific application. 


In addition to selling standard sensors, Somni has often been involved in the development of sensors for specific applications. Somni aims to apply its in-depth knowledge of sensors to many professional fields.

These can be very different fields of work, such as infrastructure, medicine, industry, etc. Each has its own requirements and conditions. Therefore, when developing a new sensor, Somni always seeks to collaborate with knowledge holders from the various application areas.

This can be the customer itself, but Somni now also has a large number of partners in various fields of work.
