Hydrogen leak detector
The fiber optic hydrogen leak detector is marketed by United Fiber Sensing B.V., a spin-off of Somni Solutions.
See: www.unitedfibersensing.com
The sensor is specifically designed to give an alarm at low concentrations of hydrogen leakage. Typically at 0.1% vol H2 and with a response time of a few seconds.
The leak detector is a completely passive detector. There are no electronics inside. In addition, the detector has been evaluated by two independent parties for safe use at an explosive hydrogen concentration of 30% H2 in normal atmosphere. These results not only demonstrate the safe use of the detector at >4% hydrogen concentrations, but also that the detector remains operational after exposure to >4% hydrogen concentrations, i.e. the detector does not suffer any poisoning effects.
Products
H2 2000 T
Cost effective sensor for the detection of molecular hydrogen leaks from 0.1 vol% hydrogen in normal atmosphere.
The sensor uses light via fiber optics and is 100% free of electronics. The use of light instead of conventional electronics increases the intrinsic safety of the sensor. Multiple sensors can be permanently installed in close proximity to pipes, valves, meters and connections to provide continuous protection for any hydrogen production, storage or transport facility.
Fiber optics allow easy and safe detector installation and simple daisy-chaining of multiple sensors using a single optical fiber.
